“Postcards from Port Huron”
"Under The Blue" Art Mural
The City of Port Huron is proud to announce the completion and unveiling of a new public art mural, "Under the Blue", presented by local artist Steve Nordgren. The mural, located on the 7th Street Bridge, celebrates Port Huron as a waterfront community, and adds a splash of color and creativity to the city's landscape. The project was funded by the James C. Acheson Marina.
The artwork captures the spirit of Port Huron as a waterfront community. Nordgren, a Port Huron resident, adds "Under the Blue" to his growing list of local public murals. Nordgren completed the mural on the side of Active Lounge at Seventh Street and Lapeer Avenue in 2023.
"I had a lot of fun with this project, and a lot of eyes watching as I worked wondering what was taking shape," commented Nordgren.
The mural project is part of the City's ongoing commitment to placemaking and revitalization, aiming to enhance public art displays for residents and visitors while highlighting to creative talent local artists.
"Public art is a reflection of who we are as a community," said City Manager James Freed. "Steve beautifully captured that along the 7™ Street Bridge walkway. Public art is a powerful example how art can connect people to place."
The City invites the public to view "Under the Blue" on the 7h Street Bridge.
